Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways one can become involved at Friends
Village. We depend on volunteers to make it possible to
offer additional social and special events, an
important aspect of life for our residents. Volunteers are
welcome to become involved in any of the opportunities
listed below:
Friends Village
Auxiliary - attend Auxiliary meetings on the 3rd
Monday of the month at 1:30 pm to help with planning
Country
Store/Gift Shop – 2 hour commitment, time scheduled in
advance
Coffee Hour Host
– serve beverages, provide assistance to residents as
needed, facilitate conversation; 1 ½ hour commitment, once
each month
Coffee Hour
Assistant – assist host in serving beverages, providing
assistance to residents as needed, and facilitating
conversation; 1 ½ hour commitment, once each month
Visit Residents
– visit with a resident on a one-to-one basis to provide
extra socialization, play games or read, go outside for
walks; scheduled according to resident/volunteer mutual
interests
Help with Special
Events – participate in planning meetings in advance
and/or come on the day of the event to assist staff
Help with Annual
Bazaar – set up the Auditorium the day before the event,
and/or help with selling items, and/or assist in packing
away unsold items; Bazaar is held in early November
Entertainment
– Do you have a special talent to share? We would love to
schedule you to perform for a small group or larger crowd.
We also need help on concert nights assisting Health Care
residents to and from the Auditorium.
Pastoral Care
– meet with residents in small groups or on one-to-one basis
to provide spiritual support; time commitment will vary
according to resident need and interests of volunteer
Memory Garden
Maintenance – when in season, help with planting and
gardening in the Healthcare Memory Garden; time commitment
will vary according to interests of volunteer
Help Support
Services – as you are available, help unpacking,
organizing storage, or even cleaning
